Charlotte's Web
is a children's book by acclaimed American author E. B. White, first published in 1952, it tells the story of a barn spider named Charlotte and her friendship with a pig named Wilbur. It was illustrated by Garth Williams.
Plot
This book begins when John Arable's sow gives birth to a litter of piglets, and Mr. Arable discovers one of them is a runt and decides to kill it. However, his daughter Fern begs him to let it live. Therefore her father gives it to Fern as a pet, and she names the runt Wilbur.

Wilbur is hyperactive and always exploring new things. He lives with Fern for a few weeks and then is sold to her uncle, Homer Zuckerman. Although Fern visits him at the Zuckermans' farm as often as she can, he gets lonelier day after day. Eventually, a warm and soothing voice tells him that she is going to be his friend. The next day, he wakes up and meets his new friend: Charlotte the gray spider. Wilbur soon becomes a member of the community of animals who live in the cellar of Zuckerman's barn.

When the old sheep in the barn cellar tells Wilbur that he is going to be killed and eaten during Christmas, he turns to Charlotte for help. Charlotte has the idea of writing words in her web extolling Wilbur's excellence (such as "SOME PIG"), reasoning that if she can make Wilbur sufficiently famous, he will not be killed. Thanks to Charlotte's efforts, Wilbur not only lives, but goes to the county fair--with Charlotte--and wins a prize.

Due to the short lifespan of spiders, Charlotte dies at the fair. Wilbur repays Charlotte by bringing home with him the sac of eggs she had laid at the fair before dying. When Charlotte's eggs hatch at Zuckerman's farm and most of Charlotte's daughters leave to make their own lives elsewhere, three remain there as friends to Wilbur.
總是期望奇蹟出現,但奇蹟已經發生,只是我們看不見。用心看世界。注意當下比眺望未來更重要。

Kikujiro no natsu (Summer Of Kikujiro 菊次郎的夏天)
Kikujiro tells the story of a young boy searching for his mother during his summer vacation. The film is mostly divided into smaller chapters, listed as entries in the boy's summer vacation diary. Kitano's inspiration for the character (not the film) was his own father, Kikujiro Kitano, a gambler who struggled to feed his family and pay the rent.

The film is regarded as Kitano's funniest, and perhaps most overlooked work. Aimed at the whole family, the film was allegedly inspired by the The Wizard of Oz with the basic premise being a road trip. Kitano's familiar elements and locales are present: drawings, vignettes, the seaside, and angels. However, the gangster themes for which Kitano is widely known are only tangental, proving to the audience that he is very capable of producing films of other genres; particularly, his early roots in comedy surface clearly in the film. Although the plot is composed largely of sad events, the film often has a light hearted atmosphere, achieved mostly through Kitano's character and his somewhat bizarre encounters.

"After 'Hana-Bi,' I couldn't help feeling that my films were being stereotyped: 'gangster, violence, life and death.' It became difficult for me to identify with them. So I decided to try and make a film no one would expect from me. To tell the truth, the story of this film belongs to a genre which is outside my specialty. But I decided to make this film because it would be a challenge for me to cope with this ordinary story and try to make it my very own through my direction, and I tried a lot of experiments with imagery. I think it ended up being a very strange film with my upsetting people's expectations in a positive way." - Takeshi Kitano
